Trimming the tree branches near the radio mast is a challenging task. In years past I was able to climb the tower with my climbing harness and use a pole saw on encroaching branches. This time, though, this solution did not seem to be feasible.
Fortunately one of my buddies, Justin Bates, has a bucket truck that ascends 40 feet, and he was willing to help me out.
This mast provides the studio transmitter link for WPLP, amateur radio 2m/70cm bands, and an FM broadcast receive antenna.
The tree branches were striking the lower antenna.
Lots of falling branches
It had been a couple of years since I trimmed these branches. Fortunately Justin was able to reach many more branches than I was able to from the tower.
The finished result - a tower free from obstructions
Haocheng and I cleaned up the debris that had fallen on the ground during the project.
