This morning at around 6:30 I half-awake threw the dogs into the back yard before starting my morning jog.  There was a group of deer that I didn't see.  The big deer jumped the fence, but the baby deer was unable.  Millie was going for the kill, and fortunately I was able to grab her and throw her over the fence.  One more dog to go.

Once I started trying to chase Mabel down, I realized that she was trying to play with the deer, and despite the deer's wounds inflicted by Millie, the deer was actually reciprocating and playing back.  Mabel even licked the deer's wounds.

Before I started jogging I brought both dogs inside and left the gates open.  An hour or so later the deer was still in the yard relaxing in the grass.  Mabel and the deer played again.

The deer evidently believes Mabel is family.
